Judy on Judy:

Pssst. Here is a little blurb I use when people ask me about who the heck I am, what the heck I do, and where the heck I'm headed. Use it at your own discretion.

"Judy Valencerina shouts out from the small plains of Oxnard, California. After classical piano training from the age of 5 through high school, the discovery of marching band, jazz band and theater, to orchestral percussion in her early college years, she finally found "home" when she decided to write music for herself. Although she hid not-so-silently behind a piano through many different jazz combos for several years, she realized that she had a knack for songwriting. While definitely influenced by jazz, Judy's music & lyrics also have a precocious pop feel. Armed with piano keys and a hint of naivety, she brings originality and raw honesty to the stage. She admits to being very sarcastic when it comes to love songs, but is currently learning more about herself, turning over leaves, and trying to lay off the cynicism. Then Judy asks us, 'aren't we all?' She currently works in Oxnard as a graphic designer and marketing associate."

Hey folks. My little music spot on the interwebs is
http://www.myspace.com/listentojudy. If you have any questions or would like to book a show.. then just message me! You can usually find me at The Experimental Cafe in downtown Oxnard... I also do booking for Wide Open Wednesdays @ the same venue. Regarding the non-musical aspects of my life, I like to get lost in antique stores... I like candy canes in my coffee... I am a HUGE fan of puppy dogs... and the biggest lesson I've learned over the years is that you get what you give. I plan on giving a lot, so watch out world.

Susan D. on Judy:

Sprouting from a city whose rich earth has been known for bringing us the finest fruits and vegetables grew an even finer and more unique sweet blossom that stood out among the rest. This blossom was a bright young girl who was filled with immense talent, musical aspiration and creative juices that were eager to be formulated into nothing short of several small masterpieces. The world had no idea what it had been missing until now...
Judy Valencerina began playing music even before she could remember. It was apparent that she had a niche for song and music at a very early age; however, we all know that a gift left unnurtured may be forgotten. This was not the case with Judy. Her consistent intimacy with music through countless piano lessons, marching band, and her love for jazz music helped her to never lose touch with the gift that she was born with. Her musical infallibility and genius lead her to become part of several large school oriented ensembles, as well as several other small jazz band collaborations throughout her teenage to young adult years. Although this musicians' resume grew to the sky's length, she had a strong desire to conquer a new aspect of her musical profession. After all had ended, Judy was left with only her hands, her voice, and her keyboard and this was something that she became absolutely content with. It's simply amazing to hear the beauty that she has built with just those three elements. With her musical aspirations ready to take flight and her creative juices flowing, Judy Valencerina has been devotedly working to create something with undeniable heart and soul. Her new EP, "Wired To Be", is set to independently release in January of 2008 and many are anticipating its arrival. The world had no idea what it had been missing, and now, we'll all finally know for certain.
