A Scene from "Winds of Angkor"

Controversial Musical to Benefit Cambodia

Ten years in development, British composer Sarah O’Brien’s “Winds of Angkor” chronicles a forbidden romance between prisoners of Khmer Rouge and its impact on a Western journalist who falls in love with a survivor of the regime.
Thought at first to be “too controversial” by judges of the Vivienne Ellis Prize, “Winds” has emerged as “an extremely dynamic and professional work”.  Plans to stage a full production in Cambodia and major cities internationally are currently under discussion, and profits will benefit ongoing recovery efforts in Cambodia and Cambodian communities around the world.
